Founder's Message

February 1, 2018

Project PPP was conceived in May 2016 as an attempt to raise awareness about the blatant and widespread denial of equal property rights to Indian women, particularly single women in rural areas — often the most disadvantaged of them all.

To say that the issue was far graver than simply a lack of awareness would be a massive understatement. As I delved deeper into the intricacies of the issue at hand, I came face to face with a sobering reality, one that I had read and heard about but hardly observed up close: Indian society, in many parts of the country, was still entrenched in layers of patriarchy, subjecting its mothers, sisters, and daughters to the full brunt of its discrimination, inequality, and apathy. To attempt to strive for gender equality by tackling any of the numerous challenges faced by women would involve changing mindsets in this deeply patriarchal society still heavily invested in gender disparity.

Project PPP is a movement that attempts to do just this. Although there is a long way to go, and much remains to be done, we hope to create a powerful voice and ally for ensuring dignity through financial empowerment of women. We are profoundly grateful for all the support we have received till now, and we invite you to join us as we endeavour to collectively inspire change.

Yours sincerely,
